SANDRA OSWALD

Sandra is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Amberton University in the DFW area. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Ohio State University. Sandra moved to Dallas twenty years ago from Ohio.

Sandra has been a practicing therapist for 14 years. She has previously worked in hospitals and other private practices. Through these experiences, she’s gained the confidence and knowledge to effectively treat clients presenting with an array of symptoms and challenges. While working at the Counseling Institute of Irving, she focused on seeing individual adult, children, and adolescent clients and supporting them through addiction, mood disorders and family conflict. In addition to seeing individual clients, she also treated families and helped them to overcome challenges through positive confrontation and solution focused therapy. As a Mobile Assessor at Methodist Hospital, Sandra worked with a diverse group of clients helping them through life transitions all while struggling with persistent mental health disorders.

Sandra has significant experience working with adults, couples, and families. She is flexible and able to adapt to her client’s needs, which ensures she will be able to meet the client wherever they are in the therapeutic process. Sandra is experienced and knowledgeable in working with clients suffering from depression, bipolar disorder, addiction, trauma related disorders, family and couples conflict, self-esteem, personality disorders, and anxiety related disorders. She takes an integrated approach of evidenced based practices to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Freedom Therapies, Solution Focused Therapy, Trauma Informed Care, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Sandra is very unique in her way of supporting, but being straightforward with her clients. She and the client will collectively establish goals and then collectively work hard to achieve them. She hopes her clients will gain insight into problem areas of their life while continuing to practice a healthy lifestyle, whatever that may be for the client. Sandra cares about her clients and their well-being. She believes therapy can help a person through a dark time in their life if given the right tools.

During Sandra’s free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband, having fun, and relaxing outdoors. She also spends her free time volunteering at the Genesis Women’s Center and crocheting hats for the homeless.
