Chris is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from John Carroll University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Miami University. Chris is originally from Ohio but relocated to Dallas. Prior to working at Elko Counseling Center, Chris was in a practice where he specialized in working with pre-teens, teens, and adults struggling with a wide range of issues.
As a result of working in a school setting, inpatient setting, and private practice setting, Chris is experienced in treating emotional and sexual trauma, PTSD, bipolar disorder, self esteem issues, anger issues, addiction, LGBTQ+ issues, life transitions, domestic violence, and relationships. Chris utilizes the Family Systems approach to help families overcome stressors, promote positive relationships, strengthen communication, and safely address conflicts and
Chris also uses a Reality-Based approach, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and the Gestalt approach in his work. DBT is commonly used to treat depression, anxiety, and personality disorders. CBT helps to challenge irrational thoughts, improve emotional regulation, and develop coping strategies. Chris tailors these approaches for each of his clients to yield the best results.
Chris has always had a fascination with human behavior. He has a passion for gaining knowledge in mental health and for helping others get through their individual struggles. Chris collaborates with his clients to set goals and then provides the tools they need to work through their hardships. He truly enjoys what he does for a living.
While Chris isn’t working or trying to save the world, he enjoys spending time with his partner, hanging out with his dog, and doing yoga. He also loves to go out to eat and explore Dallas.
